An inspiring story of teamwork
Two-year-old craniopagus twins Hiyab and Wuhbto were successfully separated at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. This incredibly rare and complex procedure required more than 24 hours of surgery and the coordinated efforts of dozens of specialists, caregivers, and partner organizations working toward a common goal.
As we read stories like this, it is easy to focus on the surgeons who performed the operation, and rightfully so. Their skill, dedication, and expertise helped make what many would consider a miracle possible. However, this remarkable achievement is also a powerful reminder that miracles in healthcare are never accomplished by a single person or team.
Behind every outcome like this are people who support clinical operations, maintain facilities, coordinate resources, manage technology, ensure safety, provide administrative support, and keep critical systems running. Every phone call answered, every schedule coordinated, every room prepared, every piece of equipment maintained, and every challenge solved contributes to patient care in ways that are often unseen but absolutely essential.
We may not perform the operation, but we help create the conditions that make extraordinary outcomes possible. Thank you to everyone whose work behind the scenes supports patients, families, and clinical teams every day.
Together, we help make miracles happen.
