Cool Things About My Mom, Vera
• Drove the Zamboni at one of my high school hockey games.
• Earned her GED in her 60s.
• Loved pretending to be a race car driver—until she got busted by the police!
• Always took care of random kids or people. ❤
• Threw hockey pucks at me when I was 11 because I put them in her freezer.
• Showed empathy early on: When I was 12, she enrolled me in a class at the YMCA where I helped care for disabled children.
• Was the "Pinball Queen" at the local hockey rinks while I practiced.
• Loved going on adventures (a.k.a. looting)—great stories for another time!
• Was terrified of anything that crawled, especially crickets.
• Let me blast heavy metal in the car. 💪
• Allowed my metal band to practice in the basement. ❤️
• Always defended me when the neighbors complained to the police about me shooting hockey balls against the garage. 😂
• In the summer, she'd go to the city to get a fire hydrant wrench and sprinkler.
• Got mad at me for falling asleep during a Johnny Mathis concert when I was 13. 😂
• Always let me cruise in her '63 Ford Galaxie convertible at the mall.
• Made me the best Halloween costume at age 12: a life-sized Flyers hockey puck!

I am reaching out to share my exciting news and to try to obtain support from the local community.
I have recently made the Women’s USA Roller Hockey team, and I will be going to the World Championships in Italy in September!
All of the players are encouraged to raise funds for their travel expenses, and any donations will help me reach my goal to represent the USA. I have worked very hard to get to this place, and I consider it a privilege to be able to represent our country.

Please let me know if you would like to be a part of helping me achieve this goal and alleviate some of the travel expenses to Italy for the World Championships.
