Here is a brick patio we did. This is what you would call a relay. We took up the existing brick and dug up the sand. We removed all the material underneath, including fabric. After grading and compacting the subsoil. We laid new fabric, drain tile, washed RC57, compacted and #8’s. We laid the brick and then added sand. This is how you build a patio.
