PSA: Saturday and Sunday will have extremely cold temperatures in our area. Now is the time to prepare your pipes to prevent them from freezing and bursting. Insulate exposed pipes or pipes subject to freezing. On Friday night, start water dripping on exposed faucets that are subject to freeze. Place heat lamps near your deep well, especially near the pressure switch (points) pipe. Make sure your foundation vents are closed. Either drain the water in your campers, or be sure to leave heat on inside them. Leave your pool pumps running through the night. The last I saw, the temperature Saturday will not get out of the 30s, and will plummet Saturday night/Sunday morning. This is the weather that burst pipes. A little preparedness could save you lots of money and days without water. Also remember to bring the pets in. Y’all stay safe and warm out there.

The ability to work with other co-workers is a must. The pay scale is based on experience and knowledge of the trades. The next few days are going to be cold at night with highs in the 40s. Remember to cover your pipes and drip your exterior faucets. Plumbers in the area are already busy with normal work. You may have to wait days to have your broken pipes repaired. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Also, make sure your animals have a place to get out of the freezing cold. And be sure you have plenty of propane if your heaters are LP. There is a slight possibility power could be out. If you depend on electricity to heat your house, be sure you have a backup plan. Y’all stay safe and warm out there.

PSA:
If you are having a shingled roof replaced with a metal roof and your roofer is going to cut your plumbing vents off in the attic so he doesn't have them penetrating the roof, you need to find another roofer. It is not only against plumbing and building codes to terminate open sewer vents in an attic space, it could also be dangerous. Sewer vents emit methane gas, which is flammable. A buildup of methane gas and an ignition source is a recipe for disaster. Ask the roofer to leave them through the roof or pay a plumber to possibly relocate them. Stay safe out there.
