The way your office is designed can have a major impact on how employees feel throughout the day.

Moving from tall-wall cubicles to a more open floor plan can help reduce visual barriers and improve sightlines, something that may help individuals with PTSD feel more comfortable within a space.

Open layouts can also encourage collaboration, connection, and everyday social interaction, helping employees feel more engaged and connected to their workplace community.

Thoughtful design isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about creating spaces that better support the people using them every day.

🥳 A step in the right direction for our industry.

In February, Illinois State Representative Joyce Mason introduced legislation to reverse the graduate nonprofessional degree designation for architecture programs. Earlier this month, the bill passed committee review — an encouraging step forward for future architects.

As it stands today, architecture students pursuing the graduate degree required for licensure face reduced access to federal funding, creating additional financial barriers to entering the profession. Over time, this could contribute to a shortage of licensed architects and fewer students pursuing careers in architecture altogether.

We encourage our peers, educators, students, and industry advocates to support this bill and push for similar legislation in their own states.
