Keeping history alive! These two chimneys are likely over a century old.

Historic brick and mortar are much softer than today's. When you repoint old brick (grind out and replace the damaged face mortar) it's important not to use modern premixed mortar as it can risk damaging the old soft brick.

We repointed one and completely rebuilt the other chimney on this beautiful historic home using historically accurate mortar.

It takes a little extra effort but if you're going to do something, do it right! 👌

Here's a little before & after! We went from a funky woodstove backsplash to a stone fireplace that became the focal point of the room!

Even though we ran into some hiccups (mold, rotted sheathing, ect.) we adapted and overcame! Removed the damage, framed in the rough opening and built a platform for the fireplace unit to sit on. Also had to order tile from Mexico to fill in around the hearth. We do it all around here! 💪
