Meet Greg and Jen Schmitz of Holyland Heat – Nominated as One of Fondy’s Kindest!

Building more than just a baseball team, Holyland Heat (11U) is shaping a supportive and inclusive environment for young athletes in our community.

Here’s why they have been nominated:
"This team was formed with a mission beyond the game—focusing on growth over winning and creating an opportunity for kids who have faced challenges in other baseball programs. Founders Greg and Jen started this team to provide a positive, character-building experience, ensuring every player feels valued and supported. The impact they’ve made goes far beyond the field, showing what true leadership and kindness look like in youth sports."

We think Greg and Jen’d Holyland Heat has truly made a difference in Fond du Lac, and now it’s your turn to show them some love!

KINDNESS FROM A STRANGER SITTING ON A BENCH ...
wearing a sweet smile, she was surrounded by bags, every one containing the essentials needed to live without a permanent address.
She set one of the bags on the bench and pointed to it.
"Would you take this? Maybe you can find some use for it. I don't have a place to store it here. I bought it because it reminded me of when my kids were little, how we'd picnic in the park with bologna and cheese sandwiches.
I never imagined one day I'd be living in a park. .. I wonder if my kids remember those days? They're all grown up now.
Funny how life is."
