We’re calling her Rojo so maybe we will break the buff/red curse giving formal names - Mrs. Beasley and Miss DiPesto. Do not think I’m over Mrs. Beasley because I AM NOT and if the right buff satin comes along…

Practice practice practice! We will suspend our rehoming efforts for now and see how it goes on the “steps” for our pigeon toed friend.

Drained the pond and built some steps out of pavers for our pigeon toed Pekin. Let’s see if this helps. Our rehoming efforts for it are not going well. So far, the only offers are from four hours of more away.

I guess this guy is establishing his dominance, but he is going chicken by chicken and pecking their feathers out. I was wondering why some of the chicks have naked necks and now I know.

Edit- ✋suspending this effort for now. Let’s see if the steps in the pond work. ✋

FORNEY - We need to rehome our six week old special needs (niacin deficient) pigeon toed Pekin. It needs a home that uses wading pools and has no pond. It manages our kiddie pool but its duck mates are ready to transition to the pond, and this duck cannot safely enter and exit our little backyard pond. It panics and tires out. We are concerned it will become trapped, drown, or freeze. There are climbing rocks but nope. Our other Pekin manages the pond but this one cannot. It is fed all flock mixed with duck pellets and we have supplemented vitamins and Niacin. It appears healthy all but the inward feet. LIKELY MALE - not quacking and has what appears to be the beginning of a drake curl.

Every morning, first thing, Nellie runs to the duck pen to hang out with the young ducks and eat their food. Every. Single. Morning. By afternoon, she’s back in the mini-coop laying our one and only daily blue egg. All those blue egg layers we raised this year (about ten) and we only have two left - Nellie and Shawshank but Shawshank appears to be on strike at the moment.

Egg customer asked how we treat ants. We don’t even get fancy with sprayers. We fill gallon buckets, disturb the bed with out boot or rake and then POUR it on. We pour it around the coops, runs and duck house and even dip chickens in it when we don’t have Elector PSP. We also use the Martin’s brand but it’s usually more expensive.
