It’s , and today we are proud to feature JMM & Sons Logging, Inc. out of Fort Kent, Maine.

Certified in 2025, JMM & Sons brings a high level of expertise to the rugged terrain of the North Woods. Their specialized nine-person crew focuses on cut-to-length harvesting, a method that emphasizes precision and low-impact results. By processing timber right at the stump, they ensure that nutrient-rich organic matter remains on the forest floor to support the next generation of growth.

As a Master Logger Certified company, JMM & Sons is committed to the professional standards that define our industry. Whether they are navigating the deep snow of the Crown of Maine or managing a complex harvest site, their focus remains on quality workmanship and the long-term health of the land. Thank you, JMM & Sons, for your hard work and your dedication to responsible harvesting!

Great view. Even better crew. 💪

When JMM & Sons Logging needed to re-deck the Henderson Bridge over the Allagash River, they got it done fast with help from a Volvo L70 rental.

Go Austin!

The February BPL Newsletter just dropped. It is packed with information. Take, for example, BPL Director Andy Cutko's piece about responsible forestry. He highlights a harvest at BPL’s Eagle Lake unit in Aroostook County and introduces readers to Jacob Guimond, Regional Public Lands Manager, Wildlife Biologist Sarah Spencer, and Forester Andrew Wilcox.

The important work here involves removing poor-quality growing stock while retaining healthy, high-value trees. This is vital to the health of the stand and keeps loggers and truckers working, which is equally important to ensure our forests remain healthy and productive for future generations. The Eagle Lake harvest is managed by Austin Plourde of JMM Logging (pictured).

Read more about this topic and many others in the February 2025 newsletter, and find past issues by looking under "Discover History and Explore Nature" on the BPL webpages at https://www.maine.gov/dacf/parks/discover_history_explore_nature/newsletter/index.shtml.

Enjoy - Thank You
