Another project turned over today at FAU’s Boca Raton campus — an MRI room with one mini splits, a split system and sheetmetal duct addition. ✅
It’s funny how the smallest projects often bring the biggest challenges. Working within an existing space, with all its constraints and limitations, is humbling. There’s no question that issues will arise — anyone in construction will tell you that’s just the nature of the work (as much as I hate to admit it 😅).
What I’ve learned is that what truly sets a company apart isn’t avoiding challenges — it’s how you navigate them. Your response time, your ability to think on your feet, your willingness to problem-solve in real time. That’s the difference maker.
These smaller projects teach us so much: attention to detail, precision in ex*****on, and the discipline of being ready to resolve whatever pops up during turnover. Grateful for the team and proud of this one.

I recently came across a video from an interview I did a while back—one I never shared. In it, I was asked a simple question: What makes you special?
And I froze.

It caught my attention because it reminded me how often we struggle to give ourselves credit for who we are and all that we do. There’s a fine line between staying humble and fully recognizing your value without sounding prideful—and that question humbled me in the moment.

What I love about this clip is that it isn’t Joisse, the businesswoman. It’s just me, having a real conversation, completely myself. And today, watching it back, I realized something important.

What makes me special isn’t the numbers, the titles, or how transactional I can be. It’s the fact that I’m real. I show up as myself. And I truly believe people can feel that. That authenticity builds trust and trust is the foundation of every meaningful relationship, in life and in business.

So now I’m curious…
What do you think makes you special?

I think it’s time for a bit of an introduction.

Hello, My name is Joisse Cordeiro. I was born and raised in Brazil, and I immigrated to the United States when I was 18 years old, with my one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. By the time I was 22, I was already a mother of two, my daughter and my son.

Like many immigrants, I did the work that was available to me at the time to provide for my family. For years, I cleaned houses. That was my livelihood. That was how I kept a roof over our heads and food on the table.

When I arrived here, I didn’t speak English. I never went to school to learn it. I taught myself. I spent countless hours in front of the TV with captions on, a dictionary in hand, and a notebook beside me, reading, listening, writing, repeating. This was before Google Translate and AI. It took patience, discipline, and time. I also intentionally placed myself in environments where only English was spoken so I could sharpen my communication skills and grow.

Years later, I joined my father in his air conditioning business. I started in an administrative role and worked my way up. Eventually, I became his partner. A few years after that, two additional partners joined the company. In 2019, I made the difficult decision to sell my partnership and walk away.

We were no longer aligned in vision, goals, or direction. And I learned that it’s incredibly hard to build something meaningful when there is division instead of unity. That decision changed everything.

I started my own company and from that moment on, we began to make history. We’re still making it. And this is only the beginning. I’m incredibly proud of the direction we’re going and the people walking this journey with me.

I’m also a grandmother to two beautiful grandchildren, one is two years old, and the other is four months old. And this… is just a small part of my story.

Behind every post, every business, every title, there’s a real person with a real journey. I’m grateful for this platform and this community, for the connections, the conversations, and the shared stories across industries and backgrounds.

We’re all building something and I’m thankful to be building alongside all of you.

Every project starts the same way: an empty space or not even, and a set of drawings.

Standing over plans like this, I’m reminded why I love what I do.

Construction teaches you something powerful — before anything exists physically, it exists in your mind. You look at lines on paper and imagine movement, systems, people, life. You visualize what will be, long before anyone else can see it. Before the building exists, it lives in your mind. Before the systems run, before the space breathes, before anyone walks through it, someone has to see it clearly, make decisions, take responsibility, and lead it into reality.

That’s passion. That’s discipline. Vision. Ex*****on.

Not just passion for the work
but passion for the process.
For the people involved.
For the jobs we create.
For the coordination, the problem-solving, the site walks, the long days, the moments where nothing makes sense yet.

And here’s the truth we don’t say enough:
things always get messy before they get beautiful.

In construction, walls come down, dust fills the air, and chaos shows up before the final result does. Life is no different. When you hit a wall, you don’t stop — you break it down. You redesign. You rebuild stronger.

That’s why this industry means so much to me.
The same principles we apply to buildings apply to life.

Your goals are an empty space.
Your dreams are waiting for structure.
And you get to decide what they become.

It’s a new year. Renew your passion.
Don’t let a hard day convince you to quit on what you’re building.

Keep pushing. The vision is already there.

Today we visited a new project we’re about to kick off — an old CVS building that will soon be transformed into a beautiful church.
We’re excited to begin this journey and bring new life to this space.
Stay tuned.
