In preparation of Hurricane Milton we want to offer these suggestions for securing your boat in case it comes our way.

It is best NOT to leave your boat on a boat lift during a hurricane. The best option is to put your boat on a trailer or dry dock it.

If your boat must remain on a boat lift, lower the lift to its lowest position and tie the boat with Dock Lines from 4 points. Keep all lines tight; do not leave any slack. The reason is so the boat does not move and the dock lines will stretch if the boat goes up.

If your boat is in a slip with mooring piles, tie up your boat tight in the middle of the slip with double lines.

If your boat is on a marginal dock (a dock that runs parallel with the seawall) you should have an anchor dropped off the bow and stern of the boat so it can be tied off away from the dock. Once again, use double lines and keep the lines tight.

If your boat is located on a narrow enough canal, place the boat as close to the center of the canal as possible and tie off the boat with Dock Lines on both sides of the canal.

Please keep in mind that these are only suggestions and you should use your best judgment for what works best in your situation. We assume no liability for any damage caused by the impending storm.

Thank you and stay safe!
