Concrete Removal:

Just completed some concrete removal in a large detached garage.

Despite: 1) having minimal working room for equipment, 2) the concrete being two times thicker than normal (8” thick instead of 4”), and 3) the concrete containing wire mesh instead of rebar (requiring it to be broken into much smaller pieces for removal), we adapted and completed part 1 of the project.

Foundation Repair
A previous customer came to us with a few problems needing addressed:
1. Basement wall pushing in.
2. Basement wall cracking.
3. Basement wall leaking water.
4. Exterior brick falling off of foundation wall.

We diagnosed the cause of the problems as the soil outside of the basement becoming saturated with water due to lack of drainage. This causes the soil to swell and put pressure on the basement wall causing it to push in. This movement creates cracks over time for water to seep through.

Our multi-step solution to the problems:
1. Excavate all dirt away from affected area to relieve pressure off of basement wall.
2. Brace exterior brick in order to prevent further shifting.
3. Push basement wall back into place with interior mounted posts.
4. Line exterior of basement wall with rubber to prevent future water seepage into basement.
5. Install new footer tile to remove water quickly.
6. Backfill over tile with gravel to assist with quick water removal and add support to basement wall.
7. Cover gravel with plastic barrier to limit soil from entering the new drain tile and to help retain moisture in the soil placed above for future landscaping.
8. Finish filling excavated trench up to ground level with topsoil for landscaping.

We believe this to be the best option to fix these problems because it stops the water from ever entering the house. This prevents further erosion of the foundation walls.
