OFFICIALLY A HURRICANE
As of 5am, we have Hurricane Idalia with 75 mph winds. Idalia is expected to continue to strengthen and could become a major hurricane before making landfall along the Big Bend area by tomorrow. We can expect strong winds and rain bands to work their way this afternoon into tomorrow across Southwest Florida. Stay with WINK News for updates.

Tropical Storm Idalia has intensified with winds sustained at 65 mph winds and is now moving north at 8 mph. The storm will enter the Gulf of Mexico by tonight and is now expected to strengthen into a major hurricane by Wednesday ahead of landfall near the Florida Big Bend.

The NBC2 First Alert Storm Tracking Team has also issued a SEVERE WEATHER FIRST ALERT today as a strong cold front moves in, which will bring in a line of rain and storms into Southwest Florida this afternoon.
