Hurricane Season Prep - TIP #4: Hit the breakers.
If you lose power during a storm, turn your AC off at the thermostat. Then, if it is safe, switch off the breakers that supply power to your AC system. Keeping the AC breakers off helps protect the system from power surges and prevents it from restarting repeatedly.
Once power has been fully restored and remains stable, turn the breakers back on and restart your AC.
