Hiring Estimator/Take off
Will train however must be able to read construction documents and utilize excel spreadsheets at minimum
Summary
The Estimator is responsible to take off plans, input data, prepare cost and labor estimates for assigned projects. The Estimator is also expected to follow-up with clients, that could stand in the way of being awarded the contract.
Being able to read and comprehend construction documents is key, field experience is a plus. If you can read and comprehend construction documents and are proficient in computers using mainly excel spreadsheets, we can train you.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Estimator will perform the following duties.
• Identifies and quantifies concrete and masonry items to be included in bid proposal.
• Enters quantities into excel spreadsheet software program for pricing
• Identifies, contacts, and creates relationships with vendors/suppliers
• Analyzes and scopes vendors/suppliers to determine best value and project continuity
• Based on analysis, proactively works to persuade vendors and/or suppliers to commit to best pricing
• Identifies to whom we are bidding and prepares bid form, bid proposal letter and/or qualifications
o Fill out and quantify inclusions and exclusions in subcontractor bid proposal
o Ensures “Standard Conditions” are included in every proposal
• Packages and sends proposal on time; reviews with Operations for production numbers
• Follows up with client personally to ensure bid receipt and to identify potential obstacles in closing the deal
• Develops contractor relationship for current and future jobs
• Collects data on lost jobs to monitor competition and market
• Tracks project until awarded
