🎉Larry Johnson has retired from teaching music at Pierre High School 🎉

His dad started working for the South Dakota Highway Department in 1940 and Larry joined him for a while in 1965 as a loader operator. That was the last time he ran a loader until today.

His friend Diane reached out to Morris and asked if we could let him run a loader since every time he drives by one he talks about when he operated. He said it would be a dream come true if he could do it again.

Diane picked up Larry and said they were going to lunch, and she surprised him by bringing him to the Euclid project where he got to spend some time operating a loader. He said he hopes his dad is smiling down on him!

TJ Gallagher was happy and honored to help his dream come true…….He is hired!

She's on the billboard! 🎉

Last month, we shared the exciting news that Stella, a talented 4th grader at Jefferson Elementary School in Pierre, won the Central South Dakota Work Zone Awareness Artwork Contest — and yesterday, her winning design became a reality in a big way.

Representatives from Morris, Inc., the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SD DOT), and the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of South Dakota gathered with Stella in front of her very own billboard to celebrate this incredible milestone.

Stella's artwork is now visible throughout the Pierre area, reminding drivers every day about the importance of work zone safety. It's hard to put into words how proud moments like this make us — seeing a young student's creativity make a real-world impact is exactly why we love being part of this community.

Congratulations again, Stella. You are a rockstar! 🌟

Watch this near‑miss caught on our dashcam. This is a reminder to be patient on the road — it isn’t worth risking a life. Our drivers have families waiting at home; help us ensure they — and everyone on the road — can return safely each night. Obey traffic laws and give truck drivers the space they need to do their jobs. If you got it, ate it, or used it — a truck brought it. If our driver hadn’t let off the accelerator, this would have ended very differently.

🎉Congrats to Logan Dahl for winning Employee of the Month for April! 🎉

Logan works in our Ag-Irrigation Department. Logan is a Pierre native who worked for a few years at Meyer Services Inc. in Volga, SD before moving back to Pierre in 2014 with his wife, Sasha. Together they have two children, Adalyn (6) and Caleb (4).

Logan says the best part of his job is being able to provide irrigation services to local farmers and having the opportunity to learn new things every day. Outside of work, Logan is also an avid fisherman who enjoys spending time on the water.

Thank you, Logan, for all that you do at Morris! Congratulations!

Morris, Inc. is proud to celebrate a special moment in our community!

TJ Gallagher and Josh Meintsma recently visited Jefferson Elementary School in Pierre to support Stella, a talented 4th grade student, as she was recognized for winning the Central South Dakota Work Zone Awareness Artwork contest.

Stella’s winning design will be featured on bulletin boards throughout the Pierre area, helping bring awareness to the importance of safety in work zones. It’s a powerful reminder that even our youngest community members can make a big impact.

Family members, South Dakota Department of Transportation (SD DOT) employees, and Associated General Contractors (AGC) of South Dakota were also there to celebrate Stella’s achievement and the message behind it.

Morris, Inc. is proud to partner with SD DOT and AGC of South Dakota in sponsoring this program each year. Supporting initiatives like this not only promotes safety but also strengthens the connection between our communities and the work we do every day.

Congratulations, Stella — your creativity is helping keep our roads safer for everyone! 🚧👏
