Importance of proper HVAC Contractor Choice
So your building your dream home, will your HVAC results be part of the dream or a nightmare?
Given current costs of HVAC equipment, an improper installation can cost you much more money both on front end and long-term vs. obtaining accurate information you can be confident about.
Here are a few questions you may want to consider asking HVAC installers:
1. What is your experience with “right-sizing” for the type of home we are building?
2. Do you perform ACCA approved Manual J calculations or willing use data I provide from a 3rd party?
3. How will I know the system installed will be efficient and provide even comfort thru the entire home?
4. Pros or cons to different options: IE Inverter type systems, Mini-Splits, Ducted, Zoning, Radiant heat, Geothermal etc?
5. What type system do you recommend and stand behind?
6. What are your certifications or specialized training for “high-performance” structures?
7. Are there any rebates or incentives, state or federal for certain equipment options?
8. Are you experienced with fresh air options like ERV, HRV or whole-house humidity control?
9. Do you offer or provide annual or seasonal maintenance options?
10. What type of warranty is provided and what does it NOT cover?
