The closer healthcare design is tied to operational realities, the better it can support the day-to-day needs of both patients and practitioners. This isn’t a passing trend or the latest design fad. It’s fundamental to delivering better care.
In the case of the IU Health Fishers tower expansion and renovation, a highly integrated approach grounded in evidence-based design and Lean principles revealed opportunities like shortening the travel distances for staff to their patient and supplies, integrating best practices from previous projects and research, reducing risk factors, and implementing systems that can scale with the needs of the community.
