🌱 If your lawn struggled last year, don’t wait until the Texas heat is already beating it up.

This is the time of year when a lot of Fort Worth homeowners start noticing the same things again:

Thin grass.
Dry patches.
Bare spots.
Muddy areas after rain.
Sections that never really turned green.
Parts of the yard that just look tired.

And once the real summer heat kicks in, those problems usually get harder to fix.

That doesn’t mean every yard needs brand new sod.

Some lawns just need cleanup, better watering, better soil prep, or a little TLC to help them bounce back.

But if your yard has large dead areas, heavy patchiness, or spots where grass keeps failing year after year, it may be better to reset that section with new sod before the heat makes everything tougher.

The biggest thing is not waiting until the lawn is completely gone.

A yard is easier to plan for when you can still see what’s working and what’s not.

Where does the sun hit hardest?
Where does water sit?
Where is the soil packed down?
Where does foot traffic or pets wear it out?
Which areas keep coming back, and which ones never do?

That’s what tells you whether the lawn needs a little help or a fresh start.

So if your yard looked rough last year, now is a good time to take a look at it.

Not in a rushed way.

Just in a smart way before Fort Worth weather makes the decision for you.

Send us a few pictures of your lawn and we can tell you what we’d recommend.

🌱 New sod looks great on day one, but the real test is what happens after.

One of the biggest mistakes people make with fresh sod is thinking the job is finished once the grass is down.

The truth is, new sod needs a little attention while the roots are getting established.

Especially here in Fort Worth.

Between the sun, heat, wind, and dry stretches, fresh sod can start struggling fast if it is not watered the right way early on.

The first couple of weeks are the most important.

You want the sod and the soil underneath to stay moist enough for the roots to start grabbing. Not flooded. Not sitting in puddles. But not drying out either.

A few simple things to watch for:

If the edges start curling up, it is probably getting too dry.

If the ground feels soggy or muddy all day, it may be getting too much water.

If one section looks good and another looks stressed, the sprinklers may not be covering evenly.

And if the sod still lifts up easily after some time, the roots may not be locking in yet.

That is why watering matters so much.

Good sod plus good prep gives the lawn a strong start.

But good watering helps it actually settle in.

So if you are planning new sod this year, do not just think about the install day.

Think about the first few weeks after too.

That is when the lawn is deciding whether it is going to take off or struggle.

If you are not sure what your yard needs, send us a few pictures and we can tell you what we would recommend.

🌱 Does your lawn need a little TLC, or is it time for a fresh start?

That’s one of the most common questions this time of year.

Some Fort Worth lawns just need a little help.

Maybe the grass is thin in a few spots.
Maybe there are some dry patches.
Maybe it needs better watering, fresh soil, cleanup, or a little extra care to bounce back.

But some lawns are past the “quick fix” stage.

This yard is a good example.

When you have large weak areas, bare spots, uneven sections, or grass that keeps struggling no matter what you do, sometimes it makes more sense to reset that area instead of fighting the same problem over and over.

The part most people don’t see is the prep.

Before the finished lawn starts looking cleaner, the rough areas usually have to be cleaned up, scraped down, leveled, and prepared so the new sod has a better chance to take.

That’s why it helps to look at the whole yard, not just one spot.

How much sun does it get?
Is the soil packed down?
Is water sitting anywhere?
Are pets or foot traffic wearing it out?
Is the grass still healthy, or just barely hanging on?

Sometimes a little TLC is enough.

Sometimes new sod is the cleaner answer.

Either way, now is a good time to check before the Texas heat makes everything harder.

If your lawn looked rough last year, send us a few pictures and we can tell you what we’d recommend.

🌱 Before new sod goes down, the ground matters more than most people think.

This side yard is a good example.

A lot of people see the finished look and think the job is just laying grass down.

But before it gets to that point, the area usually needs some real prep.

Bare dirt has to be cleaned up.
Low spots may need to be leveled.
Old roots, debris, and rough patches need to be dealt with.
And the ground has to be ready so the new sod has a better chance to root in.

Around Fort Worth, side yards and narrow areas can get beat up fast.

They deal with foot traffic, shade, drainage issues, pets, heat, and sometimes construction mess. If the ground underneath is not right, even good sod can struggle.

That’s why prep matters.

A cleaner finish usually starts before the grass ever goes down.

If you have a bare spot, rough side yard, or section of lawn that never really came back from last year, now is a good time to take a look at it before the Texas heat gets worse.

🌱 A rough yard can come back better than you think.

This is the time of year when a lot of Fort Worth lawns start showing what they’ve been through.

Bare spots. Thin grass. Muddy areas. Construction damage. Heavy foot traffic. Or just a lawn that never really bounced back from last season.

The good news is, not every yard needs to be overcomplicated.

Sometimes the biggest difference comes down to choosing the right sod for the yard and doing the prep work the right way before it goes down.

Around here, Bermuda is one of the most common choices because it handles Texas heat, full sun, and foot traffic really well. If your yard gets a lot of sun, kids playing, pets running around, or people walking across it, Bermuda is usually a strong option.

But here’s the part most people miss:

The grass type matters, but the prep matters just as much.

You can put good sod on bad ground and still end up disappointed.

Before new sod goes in, the area usually needs to be cleaned up, leveled, cleared of junk grass or debris, and set up so the roots can actually grab. That’s what helps the lawn go from rough-looking to something you’re proud to look at every day.

So if your yard looked tired last year, don’t wait until the Texas heat is already beating it up.

Now is a good time to look at it and ask:

“Does this lawn need a little TLC, or is it time for a fresh start?”

Either way, there’s a right way to bring it back.
