Just gonna say it how it is—after every storm, suddenly everybody becomes a roofer.
And I’ve got some solid roofer friends who would 100% back me up on this.
The problem? It puts homeowners in a bad spot if you don’t know what to look for.
You start seeing:
• Cheap, rushed work that ends up costing you more later
• Guys with no insurance working on your biggest investment
• High-pressure sales tactics trying to lock you in on the spot
• People disappearing after getting a deposit
• Work that can actually void your roof warranty
And now it’s gotten even crazier—some companies are out here offering “free” TVs, grills, or other incentives just to get you to sign. That should be a red flag, not a bonus.
Here’s the reality:
If they’re giving something away like that, it’s being paid for somewhere… and it’s usually coming out of your claim or cutting corners on your job.
Also, let’s be clear:
If a company says they’ll waive or “cover” your deductible… be careful. That’s insurance fraud, and it can come back on both you and them.
What you should look for:
• A real, established company with consistent social media presence
• A legit website with history (not something created last week)
• Proper insurance (liability + workers comp)
• Marked company trucks and professional crews
• A physical address not a P.O Box
• Someone who doesn’t pressure you to sign immediately
Bottom line—go with local, reputable companies that have been here before the storm and will still be here after.
Protect your home. Protect your investment. Don’t fall for the noise.

We replaced roofs last year that just went through the storm…
Zero damage.
Meanwhile, door knockers are out telling homeowners they need a new roof 👀
Not every roof is damaged. Don’t let someone sell you something you don’t need.
