We give free estimates if you need a complete new system. We do not sub out our work to other contractors. There is always a Kelley family member on site when new installations are being installed. We have a store fro

nt that you are more than welcome to come and meet the family. The store is filled with any parts that the home repair person needs to fix his own system. Remember, only a licensed irrigation service man is is allowed to repair any part of your system if it is not your homestead. This is a state code not just a city code.

Still in my blood... I guess... was in irrigation 43 years so still have the feeling to warn yall. Thursday through Sunday will probly be below freezing. Turn off your sprinklers, cover your above ground irrigation backflows,
cover your outside faucets, put a heater or high wattage bulb in your pump houses, drip your inside faucets, open cabinets below sinks, if you have washers in your garage protect those pipes, any pipes in attics, warm place for your pets, drinking water in case pipes freeze, and check your cars antifreeze. There really is alot of preparation before a 3 day freeze. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Another reason to always check your sprinkler valve and head locations before paving over. I was able to relocate the head but the pipe is still under the asphalt. Not a great option.

Persistence pays off. I discovered a flaw in the Toro spray nozzles and called Toro. They did a quality control study and found out that I was right. Here is the letter sent back to me explaining what they found. I did not post the photos. Letter in comments.

Hi Larry:

A ton of ‘thanks’ for the time on the phone this morning. As I said, here’s a summary of the findings that came about from the initial poor performance report you first contacted us about back in April. Toro completed a QA (Quality Analysis) and found two separate issues. The photo below shows the bottom (inlet) nozzle housing for an MPR Half and Full, our analysis found that molded parts from a February 2019 production run were ‘bad’ in that the or***ce configuration was incorrectly setup in the mold. Be assured that this issue was ‘discovered’ quickly and fixed, however, a small batch of ‘bad’ nozzles probably got released.

The other issue we found in the QA process relates to a mold defect we found while fixing the housing issue above. The photo below shows what we found to be a slight piece of ‘flashing’ at the base of the half-circle nozzle distribution cone (circled in blue). The drawing on the right is the detail of how the nozzle should be. The Toro molding team repaired this defect immediately.

So, both of the issues above were contributing to sub-par performance of the nozzle stream, both are resolved. Larry, I have copied the Toro contacts for Texas herein and please let us know if we can be of further help.

Another bad idea. An irrigation control valve surrounded by concrete. Please relocate any irrigation before pouring concrete. It will keep you from cutting out the concrete if your pipes break underneath.

Warning people! The state agency that regulates Texas plumbers has been shut down. The Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners will be abolished this September. The plumbing code, which regulates everything from plumbers' insurance to the standards they must follow, expires in September. The plumbers that are licensed now recommends that you use a former company that you know because after September "anyone can call themselves a plumber" and have no license or experience. I will be contacting a few of the city inspectors this week to talk with them to see if this will affect the irrigation codes because we follow the plumbers codes also. Please use a reputable company in the future. Plumbers also install gas pipes, not a good thing for an inexperienced person to try.
