Hi! My name is Beau. I have been at the shelter since Mar 13, 2025.

I would really like to find a home before Christmas this year!! Chiristmas with a family sounds really really nice. West-O-Plex A/C & Heating is sponsoring my adoption this month, so I hope it helps me find a new forever home!

Please share.

I am a male, grey and white Siberian Husky mix. The shelter staff think I am about 3 years old & fully vetted and fixed. I am leash and kennel trained as well as dog friendly!

Meet our West-O-Plex Dog of the Month, Beau! Beau has been with PAWS Protecting Animals of White Settlement for right at a full YEAR now and it is finally time for him to GO HOME!!! All adoption fees 100% covered by West-O-Plex AC & Heating for any approved application for Beau.

If you are looking for a handsome, 70-pound lap dog who thinks he is a 10-pound puppy, Beau is your guy. This 3-year-old neutered male Husky loves nothing more than playing hard with his favorite human and then curling right up on your lap for a long nap.

Beau is about 70 pounds of pure love and fluff. He is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. While he was previously heartworm positive, he has already completed his full treatment and just needs a quick routine follow-up!

He gets along great with other dogs, though he is definitely a no-go for homes with cats. We aren't entirely sure how he does with small kiddos yet, but he is fully ready to find his forever home and keep someone's lap warm for years to come.

If you or someone you know is looking to add a loyal, cuddle-loving Husky to the family, reach out to help us get Beau adopted!

(Note on my personal experience with Beau - I was SHOCKED at how calm and chill he is for a Husky. My previous experience with Huskies, they are WILD but Beau just wanted to snuggle!! Very surprised!)

PAWS Protecting Animals of White Settlement to inquire about Beau's adoption and as always PLEASE SHARE!!!

Talk about a system breathing through a straw!

We came across this condenser coil out in the field recently, and it is a classic example of how quickly cottonwood, grass clippings, and Texas dust can build a blanket right over your A/C. Left long enough and we can be talking a very big fix over a very small one.

When your outdoor coils end up looking like this, it completely chokes the system's airflow. That trapped heat has nowhere to go because the unit can no longer push hot air out from your home. As a result, your system has to run twice as hard and twice as long just to satisfy the thermostat, driving your electric bill sky-high.

Operating with zero airflow also puts massive head pressure on the compressor, which is the main culprit behind sudden mid-summer breakdowns. On an aging system, this can lead to burn outs, freeze ups, and liquid slugging all of which can be catastrophic in damage.

Justin's Field Tip: If your A/C seems like it is running constantly but struggling to keep up, take a quick peek at the metal fins around the outdoor unit. If you see a thick layer of dirt or fuzz,**DON'T** try to scrape it off with anything sharp! Shut the unit off at the breaker, grab your garden hose, and gently spray the coils from top to bottom at a downward angle to rinse the debris away. If it's caked on deep like this one, give us a call to perform a proper chemical coil rinse so it doesn't bend those delicate aluminum fins.

Public Service Annoucement from your friendly local HVAC company:

It is totally understandable why folks want to give their outdoor unit a little shade from the Texas sun. The catch is that putting a roof or awning over your condenser actually does the exact opposite of what you want.

Your condenser’s entire job is to pull heat out of your house and blast it straight up into the air. When that boiling exhaust hits a low ceiling, it bounces right back down. The unit ends up suffocating in its own recycled hot air. Because it cannot dump heat properly, the compressor runs under extreme high pressure. This drives your electric bill through the roof, causes the system to overheat and shut down on the hottest afternoons, and can burn out the compressor years before its time.

It is also a requirement of majority of these equipment manufacturers to keep a minimum of 4 to 5 feet of completely open clearance above the fan. Building a permanent structure like this can void your warranty immediately as well as blow an expensive part at a really bad time.

If you are worried about overheating, you can (GENTLY!!) spray down the condenser to clean the coils or give us a call if you have questions about your system's airflow and need an expert to check out why it may not be cooling as well as it should.

Mark's Pro Tip: Outdoor units are engineered from the factory to live in the direct sun and rain, so they really do not need shade. If you want to help your system run easy, leave the top wide open, keep a couple of feet of clear space around the sides, and give the outdoor coils a gentle rinse with the garden hose every once in a while to keep the dirt off.

When Hollywood comes to Texas, they still rely on local expertise!

Our West-O-Plex crew was recently out at the Dutton Ranch keeping things cool for the cast and crew’s temporary trailers. Big production or not, when the Texas heat rolls in, even the big wigs need reliable local A/C to keep things running smoothly.

Justin’s Field Tip: Trailer and portable A/C units work overtime under the Texas sun. Always keep 2 to 3 feet of clear space around the outdoor condenser so heat can escape, and check filters weekly as dust builds up twice as fast on active job sites! -Justin

No matter how big or small the job is, West-O-Plex is proud to serve our community and keep Texas cool!

It's that time of year again. Time for the $20 part that kills a $5,000 compressor. If your air conditioner suddenly stops blowing cold air in the middle of an afternoon heatwave, there is a very good chance this little silver cylinder is the culprit.

These are a run capacitors. Think of it like the battery or spark plug for your system’s hardest-working parts. It gives the compressor and fan motor the electrical jolt they need to kick on and stay running. During a scorching Texas summer, these capacitors operate under immensei heat and high pressure, and over time, they start to bulge, leak, or burn out completely.

When a capacitor fails, your system can’t start. Worse yet, if it slowly loses power without dying completely, your compressor will try to start anyway, drawing massive electrical amps, overheating, and potentially frying the entire engine of your AC system. Swapping a weak capacitor during routine service is a quick, inexpensive fix—ignoring it can destroy your whole unit.

Mark's Pro Tip: If you go outside and notice your AC unit is making a loud, low humming or buzzing sound, but the fan blades on top aren't spinning, turn the system OFF immediately at your thermostat. That hum means your motor is receiving power and trying to turn, but a dead capacitor isn't giving it the spark to get moving. If you leave it humming like that, the motor will overheat and burn out in short order. Shut it down, give us a call, and let us swap the capacitor before a minor part turns into a major repair.
