New project awarded today.

The bidding process is always intense—it’s the moment where preparation meets accountability. Early on, I learned that overthinking only creates noise. What works for me, and for HN Building Co., is straightforward: be honest, understand and explain every line item, stand firmly behind your team, and follow through on every commitment.

We’re excited to collaborate with a talented designer here in Fort Worth and look forward to bringing this project to life.

Grateful for the opportunity.

We’ve all seen it — cracked drywall, sagging ceilings, doors that won’t shut.
Most people blame the house “settling.”
More often, it’s a structural LVL issue.

Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVLs) aren’t just lumber — they’re engineered structural components, and failures usually come down to one of three things:

🔹 Improper engineering – The LVL was undersized, over-spanned, or never engineered for the actual load.

🔹 Incorrect installation – Wrong orientation, missing fasteners, improper splices, or field modifications that compromise strength.

🔹 Inadequate support & bearing – Insufficient bearing length, undersized posts, or loads not transferred properly to the foundation.

LVLs don’t fail suddenly — they telegraph problems early.
If those warnings are ignored, the fix later is far more invasive and expensive.

As builders, this is where experience and discipline matter.
Structural work isn’t about speed — it’s about doing it once and doing it right.

Build it right. Build it once.

Smart Material Staging = Real Money Saved

One of the most overlooked efficiencies on a jobsite is where materials are staged.
When materials are delivered and staged strategically—close to their point of installation—you eliminate unnecessary handling, double work, and wasted labor hours.

Every time material gets moved “just for now,” it costs time.
And time is money.

Proper staging means:
    •    Fewer re-handles
    •    Faster installs
    •    Safer, cleaner jobsites
    •    Better productivity for every trade

Wasted motion = lost profit.
Planning ahead keeps projects moving forward and margins protected.

This is how disciplined jobsites are built.

Quick update: Planning ahead isn’t optional — it’s everything.

This is why detailed coordination before concrete is poured matters. Plumbing, electrical, framing, elevations, and future loads all have to be thought through early. Miss something, and you’re not just adjusting a detail — you’re cutting concrete, tearing out work, burning time, and wasting money.

Good builders don’t rely on luck.
They rely on plans, experience, and asking the right questions before the slab is placed.

Plan it once.
Build it right.
Avoid rework.

Structural integrity isn’t the sexy part of construction — but it’s the part that matters most.

As builders, anyone can make something look good. Trim hides a lot. Paint forgives a lot.
But what you don’t see is what determines whether a building stands straight, lasts decades, and keeps people safe.

Structural integrity is about:
    •    Proper load paths
    •    Correct framing and fastening
    •    Respecting spans, shear, and bearing points
    •    Doing it right even when it costs more time and effort

This is where shortcuts show up years later — sagging floors, cracked drywall, sticking doors, and expensive repairs that homeowners shouldn’t have to deal with.

For builders who want to be trusted and still be in business years from now, structure is non-negotiable.

Why?
    •    It protects the homeowner’s investment
    •    It protects the people living and working inside
    •    It protects your reputation long after the job is “done”

We build from the bones out.
Because no amount of finish work can compensate for poor structure — and real builders know that.

Quality isn’t just what you see on day one.
It’s what’s still standing

On an active job site, nothing is random—especially markings on framing.

Paint marks, chalk lines, and symbols aren’t graffiti or “just notes.” They’re communication. They tell a story about what was found, what needs attention, and what must be corrected before the next phase begins.

In this case, the green paint marks identify an issue with the header installation. The previous contractor installed the header improperly, which caused the stud packs to bow. That bowing might not look dramatic at first glance—but left unaddressed, it can lead to drywall issues, trim gaps, door and window problems, and long-term structural movement.

This is why experienced builders slow things down when something looks off.
This is why markings matter.
And this is why quality construction isn’t just about what you see at the finish line—it’s about catching and correcting problems early.

A good job site talks to you.
You just have to know how to listen.

I start my prayers every morning and night giving thanks for my family,my dog, my friends, my business, my clients, all the good, bad and future people that god puts in my life for whatever reason, and my health. There are so many people out there that don’t have the luxury to get up and out of bed every day and chase their dreams, physically and metaphorically, and I’m thankful beyond words. My sister has a rush cycle gym and every holiday she murders us in there on those bikes but thank god we have the ability to leave it all out there and go spend time with family. Thank you to everyone that’s been a part of my life, even if just for a season. Happy thanksgiving!
