My wedding gift to Cynthia.

A pergola made from antique heart pine beams. I used my own home-made chainsaw mill to separate the 8x8 beans into parts. I then used old joinery techniques such as half-laps, trennels (a.k.a. pins) and mortise and tenons.

I finished the project with tung oil. It was also my very first epoxy pour.

The before picture…. 8x8 heart pine timbers over 120 years old. ( because that is all the rings I could count). Three 10ft timbers and one 8ft timber. And three bourbon barrel lids. Now to let them dry for a few months.
