New White oak newel posts and hand railing, stained gray with Minwax flat polycrylic sprayed on and sanded smooth. Flat black Metal balusters with a decorative addition every third one. We decided that removing the pony wall and installing a railing in that section over the stairs opened up the room and let a lot of needed natural light in. Damaged deck joists from water trapped between the two nailed together. I remove the decking. Repaired the joist and used a waterproof seam tape to keep this from happening in the future and then replace the decking.
