“John Hanson, owner of Hanson Painting and Tiling, is transforming Franklin homes one brushstroke and tile at a time. The 39-year-old entrepreneur has quickly made a name for himself in the community since moving to the neighborhood two and a half years ago.

Regarding his bigger goal and biggest motto, John comments, "We're all about providing high-quality work at a fair price." Hanson Painting and Tiling offers a wide range of services, including interior and exterior painting, tiling, bathroom remodeling, laminate flooring installation, floor tiling, shower tiling, basement remodeling, finish carpentry, cabinet painting, plaster repairs, and handyman work.

Hanson's path to home improvement wasn't direct. After earning a bachelor's degree in business and philosophy from Providence College, he spent eight years in the insurance industry. A layoff in 2017 led him to join his father's painting business, established in 1983.

"I had worked with my dad on various projects over the years, but this was different," Hanson explains. "I realized it was hard work, but I enjoyed the ability to work for myself and put in more effort for more reward."

Seizing new opportunities, Hanson expanded his skills beyond painting. He studied tiling and carpentry methods, working alongside seasoned professionals and honing his craft through practice and research. This dedication allowed him to offer additional services to existing and new clients.

In 2021, Hanson took over the company, with his father transitioning to part-time work. Now, he leads a team that tackles everything from laminate flooring installation to basement remodeling and finish carpentry.

His family is the cornerstone of his career path. He and his wife, Melissa, 36, are parents to Wesley, 4, and Fallon, 2. "I have the best motivation—providing for my family and giving them the best life possible."

When he's not transforming homes, Hanson pursues another passion: music. He leads an original rock band called Wild Sundays. His background includes studies in audio production and an internship at Zippah Plaid Dog Studios in Allston. He has also written and recorded a few albums on Spotify under Wild Sundays.

Hanson's commitment to quality and fair pricing has resonated with Franklin residents. He aims to continue building his reputation in the area, hoping to meet more clients in Franklin and surrounding communities.
