With the holidays approaching, now is the time to prepare your Thanksgiving and Christmas cactus to bloom!

These plants are daylength sensitive, and exposure to long periods of darkness is a key to getting them to bloom.

A combination of long nights (12 to 14 hours or more of darkness) and cool nighttime temperatures (low to mid-60s) for about 6 weeks promote flowering, so leaving them outside in the fall is a good way to prepare them to bloom.
