Rustic black walnut gun cabinets featuring soft closing hardware, LED lighting and a solid one piece live edge black walnut slab counter. Each drawer consists of solid wood dovetail construction with black velvet bottoms. Each of the gun racks are black velvet flocked to protect the fi****ms while they are stored. SlimStone™️ stone veneer applied directly to the wall helps give these cabinets a timeless look.

Rustic black walnut lowers for the gun cabinets I’m building for a client. The combination of sapwood and heartwood as well as knots definitely give these cabinets a lot of beautiful character!

Here is a short walkthrough of the completed lower cabinets for the built in black walnut gun cabinets (please excuse the mess). Each drawer is solid red oak half blind dovetailed and features under mount soft close drawer slides rated for 110 pounds of weight. The cabinet doors are solid black walnut and feature fully adjustable soft close hinges. The sides and bottom of the cabinets are 3/4 inch pre-finished birch plywood.

Here are some shots of the finishing process on solid black walnut raised panel doors. I start with the backs first, each side gets three coats of lacquer with a light sanding of 400 grit in between coats.
