The south facing slope is the most efficient place to install solar panels!

Ideally that would be on the back side but it all depends on how your house is oriented.

Homes with a large south face with see the most benefit from going solar, but East/West facing roofs will benefit as well!

Some systems are larger than others, and every system is designed specifically to tailor to the energy needs of the client.

This client was happy with their roof and decided to look into going solar with us as well!

Now they have it all done and covered under 25yr warranty including roof penetrations!

The tax credits for solar are dropping next year and scheduled to go away completely the following year, so take advantage of that while you can :)

On older homes in areas where the climate is colder the roofs are prone to ice damming.

What’s ice damming you ask?

It’s where water unfreezes and refreezes at the lowest point of your roof (the eaves) causing ice to move farther up your roof.

Building code requires ice and water shield (a thick membrane that stops the ice and moisture from entering your house) but older roofs didn’t have that because the code wasn’t required when the roof was installed.

This is why we had to replace all this additional wood for this client. The ice damming had rotted out the wood at their eave.

Luckily we bring every roof up to code so they won’t face this problem anymore 👍

We got this client approved for their roof to be replaced through insurance proceeds and helps them consolidate their electric bill into a permanent payment through the solar panels.

Now even if an electricity goes up their bill will stay consistent.

Because we know what it takes to roof and what it takes to install the solar we are able to warranty all roofing penetrations.

In the event that your chimney has a width greater than 24 inches you need what is referred to as a chimney cricket.

The reason for this is that in the event that there’s nothing there to divert the water it will build up at the base of the chimney and write out the framing that holds the chimney up.

This is a very common problem which is why I was incorporated into building code in recent years

Standing on pump jacks is a learned skill. You have to consistently move left and right to push yourself up to keep installing the siding.

It's a craft with special tools. You can even see the holder for the siding box that can be moved depending on panel size.

Sometimes you need a lot of wood replaced under your roof due to moisture warping the decking.

Normally speaking the wood decking is still in sound condition and you only need to replace 2 pieces of 8’ by 4’ decking.

If a roof is in disrepair you might need a lot more wood.

Always get your attic inspected to check the health and integrity of your decking.

I feel like the lower half is naked. It only has half inch cardboard with aluminum foil.

Luckily the top has its Low E House Wrap jacket on and the bottom will be covered up soon.
