Most people think reading a job site means walking it.

It doesn't.

Start with the drawings. Not just the architectural set. Pull the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans too.

You're looking for where the trades are going to stack up.

Where the ceiling gets tight.

Where the sequence is going to matter most.

Then pull the schedule. Find the critical path.

If the steel is late, what moves? If the concrete pours slip, who's waiting?

By the time you walk on site for the first time, you should already know where the problems want to live.

Empty lot. Then a grocery store serving one of Denver's busiest neighborhoods.

This King Soopers location is the kind of project that changes how a community moves through its week. Groceries, pharmacy, fuel, and daily essentials, all built on a site that wasn't much to look at a couple of years ago.

From groundbreaking to grand opening, the MYC team managed every phase of construction so the timeline stayed tight and the finish matched the plan.

Sometimes the roof lines are already there before we ever break ground.

That means every beam, every light, every conduit run has to fit within what already exists. Pull the wrong piece and everything shifts.

So we measure. Then we measure again. We map every ceiling, every clearance, every code requirement before a single thing goes in. It's not just about making it fit. It's about making it right.

This building has been standing on the CSU campus since 1883.

MYC had the opportunity to restore one of the oldest structures at Colorado State University, right here in Fort Collins. The scope included exterior water intrusion repairs, masonry revitalization, 120 new windows, and a full interior remodel.

Today it serves as the Preconstruction Center for CSU's Construction Management Department, where the next generation of builders are learning the trade.

Originally built in 1931, Harmony School holds nearly a century of history. When Mark Young Construction was selected for this renovation and addition, the focus was on preserving the building’s historic character while updating it to meet modern educational and accessibility needs.

The project included restoring original stonework, wood trim, masonry, and flooring wherever possible, along with reconfigured interior spaces, new electrical and HVAC systems, updated restrooms, a new elevator and staircase, full ADA access, and site improvements. Much of the original material was reused to maintain the integrity of the historic structure while preparing it for continued use.

Today, Harmony School serves the Fort Collins community with classrooms, a preschool, food service areas, and staff offices, blending thoughtful restoration with long-term functionality.
