Dozer Day® coming to Ritchie Bros. in Longmont on June 21–22, 2025.

Dozer Day is a one-of-a-kind, family-friendly event where kids get the chance to operate real construction equipment—yes, actual dozers, excavators, and backhoes—with guidance from professional operators. It’s not just about the wow-factor for kids; it’s also about building awareness around careers in utility construction and giving back to the community.

This year, we’re proud to support Food for Thought, a local nonprofit fighting childhood hunger, with some of the proceeds from the event.

We are looking to hire two field service mechanics to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair predominately CATERPILLAR and JOHN DEERE equipment including Scrapers, Dozers, Water Trucks, Agg Tractors, Motor Graders, Excavators, Loaders, Compactors, Skid Steers, and miscellaneous company specific specialized equipment. Experience or willing to learn diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems and electrical systems. Troubleshooting diesel engines and power trains. Needs to be honest, hard-working with a positive, mud-on-boots, get-it-done attitude with a focus on quality and safety.

3-5 years of shop/field experience in heavy construction equipment preferred

Have a valid Class A or B CDL license with a clean driving record

Experience using a Cat SIS & Cat ET or willing to train

Be able to pass a drug screening

Must be able to work under minimal supervision and be able to work independently in either the shop or out in the field

This is a full-time position with some Saturday work

Job Description

Job Summary
We are looking to hire a field service mechanic to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair predominately CATERPILLAR and JOHN DEERE equipment including Scrapers, Heavy Haul Trucks, Dozers, Water Trucks, Agg Tractors, Motor Graders, Excavators, Loaders, Compactors, Skid Steers, and miscellaneous company specific specialized equipment. Experience with installing, diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems, diesel engines, gas engines, transmissions, drive trains, engine rebuilding, and transmission rebuilding. Needs to be honest, hard-working with a positive, mud-on-boots, get-it-done attitude.






Role and Responsibilities
Diagnose and troubleshoot problems
Repair equipment including air and hydraulic systems, drive train components
Cleans, repairs, recondition, and maintains equipment and components
Service and maintains equipment owned by the company
Tests, measures, and adjusts engine and machine systems and components
Maintains a clean and organized work area
Clean-up at end of day or upon job completion
Reads, understands, and applies electrical and hydraulic schematics to repair work
Removes, repairs, and installs major component in varying configurations of equipment
Prepares accurate and complete time card entries in a timely manner
Interacts with team on any and all repair concerns
Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
Perform well in a TEAM environment
Communicates effectively with Equipment Manager and Shop Foreman to ensure problems, nature of repair, and status of repairs are understood and followed up on

Qualifications and Education Requirements
3-5 years of shop/field experience in heavy construction equipment
Be able to troubleshoot and diagnose issues
Have a valid Class A or B CDL license with a clean driving record
Must have own tools
Able to read schematics
Computer knowledge
Strong work ethic with focus on quality and safety
Experience using a Cat SIS & Cat ET
Experience fabricating and welding
Knowledge of ABS braking system
ASE Certifications a plus
Be able to pass a drug screening
