We officially wrapped up backfilling operations between Structures A3.2 and A3.3 — another major step forward on this project!

Backfilling isn’t just “putting the dirt back in.” Proper backfilling and compaction are critical to prevent settling, this also protects underground utilities, and maintain the structural integrity of everything built above it.

🚧 Another productive day in the field! 🚧 HCA Reston Hospital!

Our crew was busy getting things done and keeping everything safe underground and above! 💪
🔹 Unloaded one load of pipe and one load of structures
🔹 Test-pitted to locate an existing water main so anchor collars can be installed
🔹 Brought out the Mini 17 with hammer & jackhammer to break through rock
🔹 Carefully protected the water main with concrete blankets, straw, and plywood

💡 Did you know? Underground utilities like water mains can be decades old and don’t always sit exactly where plans say they do—test pitting is crucial to keep crews safe and avoid service disruptions. Also, protecting exposed utilities helps prevent damage from weather, equipment, and ground movement. 💡

Big shoutout to the crew for the teamwork and attention to detail—this is how progress gets done the right way!

Our crew just installed 100 feet of 8” waterline and backfilled at Arlington Cemetery — keeping things flowing where it matters most.

Interesting Facts- An 8” waterline can move hundreds of gallons of water per minute - enough to fill a backyard swimming pool in minutes!

Trench boxes aren’t just these steel boxes you see in these photos- they’re literally a life saving device. Proper trench protection can mean the difference between a safe shift and a serious accident.

Big work at an iconic place- 💪🇺🇸 Arlington Cemetery

Our team is hard at work installing geofoam at Arlington Cemetery, and this is no small task. Projects like this demand precision, respect, and serious effort—and our crew continues to deliver every step of the way.

Fun fact: Geofoam is incredibly lightweight—up to 100 times lighter than traditional fill soil—yet strong enough to support roads and structures. That makes it ideal for sensitive sites like this, where reducing ground pressure is critical.

Working at Arlington Cemetery also means meeting some of the strictest construction standards in the country, and our team is rising to the challenge with professionalism and pride.

Kicking off the new job with a bang! The Field School Think Studio!
🚧

We tore up a section of asphalt to open up the site entrance, set up the wash rack, spread two big loads of #2 stone, and cleared three trees to make room for three new water tanks that’ll handle all the dirt and water. Awesome start to this project! 💪🔥
