The Raised-Bed planters that I build are 30” high and the Flower Planters are 19” tall. I use cedar wood to take advantage of its natural resinous preservatives when making the raised-beds. There’s no need to worry about potentially dangerous chemicals that may leach from pressure-treated wood. The bottom of the boxes have small gaps to allow excess water to pass through. To keep the soil in place and prevent soil loss, I line the bottom of the box with hardware cloth (again to allow excess water to pass through) and then top that with landscape fabric. The potential soil depth of the box is 10” which is sufficient for most vegetables, herbs, and flowers. I can alter my design to accommodate plants with deeper roots though the prices shown below would increase.
The prices shown below are based on current wood prices:
4 x 1 Flower Planter $250
4 x 2 Raised-Bed $300
8 x 2 Raised-Bed $410
8 x 4 Raised Bed $550
12 x 3 Raised-Bed $625
I can deliver the 3 smaller sizes fully assembled within a one hour drive from Freedom, NH for no extra charge. I would need to complete the final assembly onsite for the 2 larger sizes due to limitations of what will fit in the bed of a pickup truck. All I would need is a flat location onsite and about 45 minutes for the final assembly. You would need to provide or coordinate the “muscle” to move the raised-bed(s) to your desired location onsite.
The type and composition of soil you put into the box(es) is up to you and can be purchased from your local garden center. You can also find packaged soil that may suit your needs in the garden section of the local “big box” stores.
