I had some questions about our irrigation system! Here is what we have underground between our garden beds. These are all plumbing materials configured to run to each bed and fit to each individual spigot. It all comes out of the garden at one point to hook up to the garden hose that runs to the house. Each bed can be turned on and off individually for attaching soaker hoses or sprinkler systems for watering.

Planted the majority of the garden today. Still more to plant and irrigate. Trying to get the garden as hands off as possible to allow for weekends away. Lots of mulching for w**d control and irrigation set to a timer. Going to be a busy summer but still wanted fresh snacks!!

Honestly, milk jug sewing has been the absolute best. It’s like the crockpot version of seed starting. Literally set it and forget it. This can be done with cold hearty seeds. We have had great success with lettuce, onions, spinach and Chinese cabbage. We’ve also done flowers before! Sometime in mid to late winter, set up your jugs and place them out in the snow. That’s it. If it isn’t raining often, check occasionally to add some water but that’s it. I literally forget about these jugs and continue to get great results.

The babies are beginning to eat solid food! They’re happily munching on hay and pellets. They won’t be weaned until 8 weeks so have quite a bit more time with mom! Not sure how she feels about their new independence.

It was time to remove their nesting box. I found them in a cuddle puddle and decided to run and buy them a bungalow to cuddle in. Also thought it might give mom a break from being climbed on.
