These days are so very busy. On top of the every day norm of children, animals, housework… the garden is starting to boom and the fair is next week!! It’s crunch time and these veggies won’t wait. Today’s projects were dilly beans and pressure canned green beans! Trying to keep up and trying to remember this is supposed to be fun 🙃 Tomorrow is more fair project work and making use of our egg bounty!

The traps are working like a charm. Although it’s up for debate if traps actually reduce the amounts of beetles you see vs attract them from further away, we have to try… The bonus is healthy snacks for chickens!

Revenge. Hung up beetle traps yesterday for an endless harvest of Japanese beetles. The chickens were so nervous at first but by the third refill that darn leghorn wouldn’t let anyone near her snack bucket.

My sweet Clover. Cannot wait to try for another litter from her in the fall. We unfortunately lost her first litter to the cold earlier this year. So heartbreaking but all we can do is learn and try again.

Gardening comes with so many headaches. Currently battling blight, blossom end rot and Japanese beetles. Up next, squash bugs. Ugh. It’s so hard to have the motivation with the heat and the mosquitos. All you can do is your best and hope for a decent harvest. What are your worst garden headaches?
