Two weeks ago yesterday, I learned real quick how fast a normal day can turn into a disaster. 😅
Heading down the road with the enclosed trailer like any other morning when I suddenly heard a loud bang and saw sparks flying behind me. Before I could even process what happened, the trailer hub completely failed, the bearings exploded, and the wheel came rolling off the trailer and into the ditch. 🤦♂️
Seeing your own trailer missing a wheel on the side of the road is definitely not something you forget.
Broken trailer. Broken dreams.
The damage was bad enough that the enclosed trailer ended up being down for 2 weeks during the middle of the season — which is about the worst timing possible when you run a landscaping business.
Thankfully, this is exactly why I always try to have backup equipment and more than one mowing trailer ready to go. Because breakdowns don’t care how busy you are. 💪
We had to reshuffle equipment, change plans daily, and make things work however we could, but we still kept jobs moving and took care of customers without missing work.
That’s one thing about running a business nobody really talks about — people see the clean lawns and finished jobs, but they don’t always see the breakdowns, stress, repairs, late nights, and expensive surprises happening behind the scenes just to keep everything going.
Huge shoutout to John's Trailer Sales in Temperance, Michigan for helping me get the parts I needed quickly and helping get me back on track. (New axle, 5 new tires/rims)
Another huge thank you to AZ Automotive in Clyde for getting everything repaired and road ready again. “As Always”
Looking back now, I’m just thankful nobody got hurt and the damage wasn’t worse.
The enclosed trailer is finally back.
The wheel is back where it belongs.
And we’re back rolling again. 👊🔥
