At Jewett, we understand that strong communities are built through sacrifice, service, and commitment to something greater than ourselves.

It was an exciting day for all of us at Jewett Construction as we proudly awarded the 2025–2026 Jewett Trades Scholarship to Justin Howell of Pinkerton Academy!

Justin stood out for his leadership, character, and passion for the skilled trades. A 3-sport athlete and active participant in student leadership activities, he has earned high praise from his coaches and teachers for the positive impact he makes both on and off the field.

Following graduation, Justin plans to pursue a career in the HVAC field — and we have no doubt he has a bright future ahead. His dedication and work ethic embody everything this scholarship was created to support.

A special thank you to New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association (NHIAA), Dr. Timothy J. Powers, the athletic department, and the staff of the Career & Technical Education program at Pinkerton Academy for their continued support.

Congratulations, Justin — we look forward to seeing all you accomplish! 👷‍♂️🔧

Last Friday, Assistant Superintendent Brooke DesRoche visited the Concord Regional Technical Center to lead an interactive session with three Construction Shop classes.

Brooke guided students through real-world exercises in plan reading and look-ahead scheduling, giving them a hands-on glimpse into the day-to-day realities of commercial construction beyond the classroom.

We also had the opportunity to tour the students’ impressive shed projects and see firsthand the incredible shop environment helping prepare NH’s next generation of builders and tradespeople.

A sincere thank you to instructor Jesse Gregorie and the entire CRCTEC staff for welcoming us and for the important work you do to support workforce development in the skilled trades.

We’re proud to support opportunities that help bridge the gap between education and industry experience.

Construction Safety Week is a reminder that strong safety cultures are built through preparation, partnership, and shared responsibility.

This week, Jewett Construction partnered with the Wilmington Fire Department and the Latham Fire Department at two active project locations to conduct emergency rooftop rescue drills.

These hands-on trainings help ensure that both first responders and construction teams are prepared to act quickly and effectively in the event of an emergency. More importantly, they reinforce a mindset we carry into every project: safety is not reactive, it’s proactive.

At Jewett, safety is not a checklist. It’s a core value embedded into every phase of our work, from planning to closeout. We believe everyone owns safety, from leadership and field teams to our subcontractors and partners, because the goal is always the same: making sure everyone goes home safe every day.

Thank you to the Wilmington and Latham Fire Departments for partnering with our teams this week and helping strengthen emergency preparedness in the field.

Construction Safety Week and National Skilled Trades Day are a chance to recognize what truly drives this industry forward. 🏗️

At Jewett Construction, safety and excellence are built together in the field every day. That only happens because of the skilled trades professionals and subcontractor partners we’re proud to work alongside.

Thank you to our partners for showing up with:
• A commitment to safety
• Pride in your craft
• A shared standard of excellence

And thank you to Team Jewett for leading from the field and helping keep every jobsite safe and strong.

Proud to share a few moments from our teams on site this week.

As we recognize Construction Safety Week, we’re reminded that safety is not just a focus for one week. It’s a commitment we carry into every job site, every decision, and every day at Jewett Construction.

That message feels especially meaningful as we just recently celebrated the retirements of Mike D'Anjou and George Holcomb.

Throughout their time at Jewett, Mike and George helped shape the strong safety culture we have today. They didn’t simply build projects. They set standards, shared knowledge, and led by example to ensure that every team member could work safely and confidently.

Safety is more than policies and procedures. It’s the people who uphold them and the legacy they leave behind. Mike and George played a major role in building that foundation, and we are incredibly grateful for their contributions.

We also want to thank our safety partners, Construction Safety Week, The Baldwin Group, and Contractors Risk Management, for their continued support and shared commitment to keeping our teams safe.

Congratulations to Mike and George on their well-earned retirements. Your impact will be felt for years to come.

On , not every story is about bold sustainability initiatives or big innovations. Sometimes, it’s about doing the work responsibly because the environment demands it.

Our reminds us of a project at Portland Stone Ware in Methuen MA, when our team delivered a manufacturing and shipping facility on a site directly abutting protected wetlands. Under the oversight of the regulatory and environmental agencies, the project required strict controls to protect endangered Wood Turtle and Blanding’s Turtle populations.

So we adjusted.

->We planned construction sequencing around the turtle's seasonal movement.
->We installed perimeter barriers to guide wildlife safely around active work zones.
->We even created designated crossing points—“turtle ramps”—to allow safe passage where needed.

No shortcuts. No workarounds. Just respect for the regulations, for the client, and for the environment we’re building in.

That’s what responsible construction looks like.

Jewett Construction is proud to celebrate National Student-Athlete Day by supporting students across New Hampshire, both on and off the field.

For the second year, we’ve partnered with the NH Interscholastic Athletic Association to offer a trades scholarship supporting future builders, electricians, plumbers, and other skilled professionals ready to make a difference in our communities.

We also partner with the UNH Wildcats, recently sponsoring a hockey game and serving as a presenting sponsor of Engineering Week. Through these efforts, we continue to connect with students in UNH’s engineering program, where the future of construction is taking shape.

Pictured is Gunnar Sokol, a track and field jumper in UNH’s engineering program. As Gunnar shared, “academics and athletics provide quality opportunities to grow as a person and become the best version of myself.” At Jewett Construction, we couldn’t agree more.

The scholarship deadline is April 30. Final year high school students can apply here: https://www.nhiaa.org/students-parents/JewettConstruction
