January 1st 1950…. While that date is just an estimate, that is the only published date we have been able to find for the day Buckridge Inc. was started. From a garage at Ray Buckridge’s property on East Dodge St, and then to its current location at 130 N D street. Buckridge Inc has been a part of Fremont for around 75 years. 4 partners (Ray Clapper, Richard Divis, Ron Preisler, and Charlie Wild) bought the business from Ray Buckridge in 1977. My dad Ray Clapper bought the last of them out in 1983. In May of 1995 I came to work full time, and in April 2014 I took over operations from my Dad. Buckridge Inc has been family owned and operated by the Clapper family since 1983. The longest tenured employee Sharon Carlson has been huge part of Buckridge and the voice on the phone for over 38 years! Thank you Sharon for your service and dedication! Buckridge has been part of my life for all of my 49 years, and has been my career for over 30 years. With no one in line to pass the torch on to, and presented with an opportunity to move into a wholesale position, I have made the tough decision to close the business. I would like to thank my dedicated employees, and the people of Fremont for all 75 years of support!
