💧 Tired of chasing a “mystery leak” in your pool?

At Pelagic Pools, we specialize in precise, high-quality leak detection in Friendswood, TX and surrounding areas—so you can stop guessing and start fixing the problem the right way.

Not all water loss is normal. While pools naturally lose a small amount to evaporation, anything beyond that could mean a hidden leak—and those leaks don’t just waste water… they can lead to:
✔️ Higher water bills
✔️ Structural damage to your pool & deck
✔️ Chemical imbalance (costing you more money)
✔️ Equipment strain and costly repairs

The good news? Professional leak detection pinpoints the exact source—whether it’s underground plumbing, the pool shell, or equipment—using advanced, non-invasive techniques.

That means no more guessing. No unnecessary digging. Just real answers and real solutions.

💡 Catching leaks early can save thousands in repairs and prevent ongoing water loss before it becomes a bigger issue.

Preparing for a Freeze: Is your pool equipment safe?
Early next week, temperatures in our area are projected to fall below freezing. For some homeowners, temperatures could be below freezing for multiple days. Our team at Pelagic Pools wants to ensure you are prepared to protect your equipment from damage. Please review the information below about preparing your equipment for temperatures below freezing, and reach out to us with any questions or concerns.
1) Make certain that all pumps are running continuously while the temperature is below freezing. If your pool is automated, freeze protection mode should turn pumps on automatically when temperatures drop into the mid-30’s. If you have mechanical timers, you can remove the “OFF” pin by turning the thumb screw counterclockwise (see the photo below). Make sure the lever (below the timer wheel) is in the on position and the pumps are running. You can leave the pin inside the box so it can easily be located and reattached. Make sure to note the time on the dial that the pin was located. You should do this for all pumps connected to a mechanical timer.
2) In the event you lose power, you should also take measures to protect your pool and equipment. Remove all drain plugs from every piece of equipment in the system (i.e. pumps, filter, and heater). We suggest you kill the power to the equipment, so it does not immediately come back on when the power returns, and cover the pool equipment with tarps and blankets. This can help protect your equipment and plumbing from freezing.
Thank you for your continued business! Wishing you and your families a safe and warm holiday.

🌞 Keep Your Pool Healthy This Summer! 💦

As the temperatures rise, your pool loses water faster than you think. Regularly topping off your water level isn’t just about looks—it’s essential for protecting your investment.

✅ Counteracts evaporation – Hot summer sun quickly lowers your pool’s water line.
✅ Keeps pumps and filters working properly – Adequate water ensures strong circulation and prevents equipment strain.
✅ Protects your pump from running dry – Low water levels can cause expensive damage.
✅ Maintains balanced water chemistry – Consistent levels help chemicals distribute evenly for cleaner, clearer water.

👉 Tip: Check your water level at least once a week during peak summer heat and add water as needed. Your pool (and your equipment) will thank you!

FAQ: Do you "winterize" pools in Texas?

In warmer climates, the need to winterize pools is pretty minimal. Unlike places with harsh winters, we don't have to worry about freezing temperatures wreaking havoc on our pool equipment. Our milder winters mean that extensive procedures, like draining and covering, are often unnecessary. In fact, it is better for your pool chemistry in this climate to continue regular cleaning and maintenance year-round. The pool infrastructure here is designed to handle the relatively mild temperature fluctuations, allowing us to keep enjoying the pool without much fuss throughout the year. It's just one less thing to worry about when the weather stays on the warmer side. 🌡️🏊‍♀️

When is the last time your pool filter was cleaned?

Regular maintenance of your swimming pool filter is crucial for ensuring clean and safe water. Cleaning the filter twice a year (every 6 months) helps maintain optimal filtration efficiency, preventing the accumulation of debris and contaminants that can compromise water quality.

A clean filter promotes effective water circulation, minimizes strain on the pool pump, and enhances overall system performance. Additionally, proper filtration reduces the risk of algae and bacteria growth, creating a healthier and more enjoyable swimming environment.

By prioritizing biannual filter cleaning, pool owners can extend the lifespan of their equipment, save on potential repair costs, and ensure that their pool remains a refreshing oasis for relaxation and recreation. Call for a quote and to schedule today!
