“It’s been 5 years in the making…”

This week, we handed over the keys to our homeowner's new home in Louisiana!

Even though she wasn’t feeling well, she still came out to receive her keys after waiting so long for this moment.

And then we received this handwritten letter. Thanking our team. Thanking Todd for all the hard work. And sharing just how much this meant.

5 years. That’s a long time to wait for something as important as a home. This is why we do what we do.

The first home in the Resilient SRQ 2024 Storms Housing Recovery Program is done.

This is just one home—but it represents something much bigger. A fresh start.

A step forward. Progress for the community! There’s still more work ahead, but seeing this first one completed is a reminder of what’s possible.

The first time we met our homeowner… she was crying. Her home was being torn down, and her whole family was standing there watching it happen.

Even though we were going to rebuild it, that moment was heartbreaking.

Fast forward to the final walkthrough. Her new home was ready.

But she was emotional again—for a different reason. She shared that she had lost her son, and he wouldn’t be able to see the beautiful home she now has.

Her daughter looked at her and said: “You truly deserved this.” That moment hit all of us.

Our homeowner even wrote a letter thanking our team for getting her back into a home faster than she expected.

This is why we do what we do. Not just to rebuild houses… but to help people start again.

It’s Resilient Winsday!

Nearly one year after Resilient SRQ launched its 2024 Storms Housing Recovery Program, Sarasota County has completed its first home rehabilitation/reimbursement for a homeowner in Venice.

“I can’t believe I found this program,” said the homeowner. “This is what I get for reading the newspaper!”

The completed award marks the first of approximately 175 cases expected through the initiative, which has allocated $33.3 million to support long-term housing recovery for eligible homeowners impacted by storms Debby, Helene and Milton. To date, the county has awarded 255 homeowners for Hurricane Ian.

Even through heavy rain and rapidly rising water, nothing was going to stop this moment—walking through shin-deep water just to reach a new home built higher and designed to provide safety and peace of mind.

Another strong week in Louisiana—continuing to push projects forward, reach final inspections, and, most importantly, welcome homeowners back into their homes.
