Last weekend, my monochromatic watercolor piece, 'Solace,' was awarded Honorable Mention in the Thankful for the Artists Exhibit presented by VALA (Visual Arts League of Allen, TX) .

I am deeply grateful to the judges, Brandon Oldenburg and Lingzhi Wu,
and to VALA for providing local artists with a platform to showcase our creativity.

Also, I am honored to receive this award among such talented local artists.
Many congratulations to all the participating artists and to all the winners!

There’s something about autumn that makes me want to slow down and paint compelling stories through my art.

Maybe it's the warmth of the season or the soft orange glow on the horizon or the ocean of orange sway of Cosmos and Marigolds, casting their color across our garden.

Inspired by these experiences, I felt the need to capture them on paper. In the textured grey foreground, flicks of red and vermilion brushstrokes mimic the energy of fallen leaves. Further back, black birds perch on graceful, dried, blades of grass much like they sit on electric wires. I often wonder what they say to each other🦜😀.

This painting is more than just a scene. It's a love letter to the season.

Yesterday, I made the best decision of my life taking the day off and attending Fabriano Acquarello's International Watercolor exhibit right here in Fort Worth, Texas.

It was simply mind blowing to see over 1000 watercolor artists work from several countries under one roof. This is my first time attending an international exhibit of such scale.

My highlight of the evening was meeting world renowned Master watercolor artist, Thomas Schaller and watching him paint live!!

Thank you Laurin McCracken for bringing Fabriano to Texas! Many thanks to all the volunteers for your tireless efforts and to all the artists who painted live and shared their valuable insights!

On a side note, I got free art supplies😀. Yay!
