Today we remember and honor Deputy Sheriff Carroll Edward Halligan of the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Department. EOW: November 9th, 1998. His sacrifice will never be forgotten.

ODMP Write Up:

Deputy Halligan suffered a heart attack and died as he struggled with a 13-year old suspect. The struggle started when Deputy Halligan attempted to serve a psychiatric committal order on the suspect. Deputy Halligan is survived by his wife and six children.

Congratulations to Mason Heck of Columbus Junction HS on being selected for the Ian Barnhart Memorial Scholarship!

Over 1.2 million dollars were awarded last night at CJ. A lot of great parents have raised some incredible kids who are going to go on to do amazing things. Good luck senior class of 2025!

We don't do a lot on social media, but this is probably my favorite post to make each year. We are accepting applications for the Ian Barnhart Memorial Scholarship. It is open to any H.S. senior that lives in or attends school in Louisa or Muscatine County and is going on to college to study criminal justice. Thanks to a wonderful donor, we will be awarding $1,000 to a deserving student. Applications must be received by April 4, 2025.
