General rule of thumb for Bermuda grass: if it’s green before you cut it, it should be green after you cut it.

Mowing frequency determines your mowing height. If you were gonna mow the lawn every two weeks like this client, then it is important to raise the height of your mowing deck accordingly. This will keep the lawn lush and green throughout the entire summer.

This is because only the top third of Bermuda grass is green. Bermuda grass is designed to be mowed every 3 to 5 days but in a residential situation that is not practical for most homeowners. So, raising the height throughout the growing season will give you the same results as a golf course with just higher turf.

A client called us earlier this week, and asked if we could do mulch and trim shrubs for them for a memorial service. They told me it was for their dog who passed in April. Which to be honest i thought was a little unusual. They asked if we could plant a rose bush by where the dog was buried. And spruce it up a bit. This was the result of what we did.

After when we showed them the reveal of area we shared stories with each other. They informed me that this is the dog they got when the doctors informed her she couldnt have children. I then shared with her about why I started Greener Side. And that this was an awesome reminder of that passion that I have to help people with their lawn and landscape.

And by the way they have beautiful children now as well.

There were 18 shrubs in varying sizes planted in these small spaces. This client decided they wanted to rip out and start fresh. We went back in this area with 11 plants, all of which will stay small and never outgrow their living spaces. Planning and planting for the future go hand-in-hand! Thinking about what the bed will look like in 2 to 3 years is more important than the bed looking full when you plant. Needless to say, we have ourselves another satisfied customer!
