We had the chance to attend the skilled trades day at Fuquay-Varina High School again this year making it our third high school skilled trades event this year, and honestly, this one always stands out.

What makes Fuquay High so great?! Mr. Williams is currently the ONLY teacher in the county offering masonry classes at the high school level, and the talent coming out of that program is seriously impressive. These students are learning real skills, building with their hands, and creating opportunities for themselves long before graduation. That deserves more attention and more support from our communities.

Trades are not a “backup plan.” They are careers, businesses, entrepreneurship, and the backbone of communities. Seeing students excited about learning these skills gives us a lot of hope for the future.

We also got to spend some time checking out the animals and wildlife the students help raise and care for which may or may not have distracted us for a while. Hard hats and farm animals are apparently a solid combo.

Big thanks to the staff, students, and everyone involved for having us out again. 👏🔨🐓
