We recently completed a paver patio installation project for a client in Westerville. Our client wanted to create an outdoor living space off of the small covered back porch. The grade of the back yard sloped away from the house, so the patio needed to be built up and retained to compensate for the slope of the yard. Sitting walls were installed to enclose the raised patio with columns to accent the corners and ends of the sitting walls and steps to access the back yard. A lighted, self-contained water feature was installed as a point of interest to create the sound of moving water that our client was looking for. Landscape lights were then added to the columns and sitting walls to give the patio ambiance in the evening and at night. The patio was designed by Sean S. and installed by the crew of Luis M., Luis B., Jose H. and Leobardo M. under the direction of our production manager Sean M. Our client is thrilled with the quality and craftsmanship of their new patio and looks forward to putting their new outdoor space to good use for years to come!

One of our hardscape crews recently finished a walls and steps renovation project for a client in the Victorian Village area near downtown. The corners of the natural stone retaining walls had started to separate and move and the mortar cap and joints within the walls had started to breakdown. The old concrete steps had also started to crack and crumble due to age. Both walls were power washed and the corners and wall sections along the walkway and steps were removed, saving the existing stone to be re-installed. After a new base foundation was installed, the walls were rebuilt using the saved stone and new mortar in the joints and caps of the walls. A new drain tile with drainage gravel was then installed behind the retaining walls to reduce the impact of hydro-static pressure on the rebuilt walls. The concrete steps were replaced with Indiana Limestone natural stone steps and a new hand railing was installed on the steps. The project was completed by the crew of Ramon R., Marcelo P. and Juan R. under the direction and supervision of our production manager Sean M. Our client was thrilled with the fresh new look and function of the renovated retaining walls and steps and has received many compliments from neighbors on quality and craftsmanship of the project!

In a recent training meeting our crew leaders were trained on proper fall clean up and fall pruning techniques. The training was led by our production managers Sean M. and Jeremy B., who instructed our crew leaders on the general processes to perform a thorough fall landscape clean up, as well as, proper pruning techniques and the details to look for when pruning ornamental trees and shrubs in the fall. We believe that proper training for our new associates and ongoing training for our more experienced crew leaders is vital to providing the highest quality services and projects that our clients have come to expect from WinnScapes, Inc. over the years.
