Finishing up this traditional Florida farmhouse in Archer, Fl

My clients wanted to lean into a more classic style on this home and it was really fun helping them make that happen! We incorporated several distinct details structurally, and then many details on the interior to help bring their vision to life. From the stem wall foundation, to the exposed rafter tails, to the , to the 4” reveal siding, to the galvalume metal roof by , the SDL grid windows, we picked materials that would contribute to the look and feel we wanted to achieve. And my client made great selections on the interior as well, with their cabinet and trim choices, their fixtures, and tile, and classic marble-look quartz installed by this house really came well!

This Alachua, Fl custom home was designed by my client to fit in well on their property in Alachua, but also to lean a bit into a style closer to the 1960s mid-century modern homes you see through Alachua county, rather than your more traditional country, farmhouse and craftsman style homes that are very popular in the area in 2026. One of the features that exemplifies this is the shape of the home: the foundation and roof is a perfect rectangle, with a lower-pitched 3/12 hip roof that has 3’ overhangs. Another good example was the large windows - mostly horizontal sliders- throughout the home, to bring in natural light & immerse the interior with the exterior, when desired. And of course the Hardie panel reveal system which gives the exterior wall a different texture than most new homes have in the Gainesville area in 2026.

On the interior of the home we went with more of a modern-organic feel, with engineered wood flooring, large format and subway tiles, and two-toned stained and painted maple cabinets in the kitchen with quartz countertops that included a single sided waterfall on the island.

Building a mix of different styles of homes is one of my favorite things to do as a builder and this home definitely contributes to being able to do that.

This Newberry, Fl custom home is approximately 3,200 sq. ft. H/C and 4,600 sq. ft. Total and features 4 bedrooms with 3.5 bathrooms. We started construction in late June of 2025 and are finishing it up in early April, making it around a 9.5 month build.

On the exterior of this home we have a 4-course stem wall with a cultured stone and stucco wainscoting. Because of the height of the foundation, we were able to get several steps up to the front porch of the home, which was important feature for the client. Also on the exterior of this home we went with board and batten siding throughout, as well as a James Hardie fascia and soffit. The windows on this home were a black exterior and white interior and were provided by . The roof on this house was pretty interesting, we utilized (2) pitches, a 12/12 pitch and a 9/12 and had a pitch change at the eaves, to lean into the Acadian style that the house was originally derived from. As always we used an Advantech 5/8” decking under the black moire shingles that the clients selected, and they were installed by my typical roofer

On the interior of this home we have 11’ and 12’ ceilings in the common living area, with 10’ ceilings in the hallways and bedrooms. These taller ceilings allowed us to coffered ceilings throughout several rooms in the house, the 10’ sliding glass door in the great room, and the 72” stacked upper cabinets in the kitchen. This home also featured quite a bit of backsplash tile throughout the butlers pantry, primary bath, and powder bath which make great accents, along with the wallpaper in the guest suite bath. The great room fireplace and built-ins features more traditional feel with a site-built multi-profile mantle, stacked stone, base cabinets with floating shelves above, and an arched soffit.

This custom home turned out great and fits in great in the town of Newberry, Fl

A little over halfway through construction on this custom home build in Alachua, Fl!

A few of the interesting details on this home build include:
-This property is located on a creek, so we are contending with a flood zone, conservation area, and a fairly steep slope where the home is being built
-lots of vaulted ceilings and active dormers and large windows/doors to maximize the interior space and make the home feel connected with the exterior
-arches in several areas of this home including windows, hallway openings, and built-in plant shelves next to the fireplace
-12” hardie lap siding, which has larger reveal spacing than normal lap siding, but it gives a more custom feel and is one of my favorite options, especially on a larger home
-a bronze Tri County Metals roof that really stands out in contrast to the lighter painted siding

We started this home in September and we’re looking at finishing up in late May or early June for a 9 month build time!

We’re about halfway complete on this custom home build in Archer that features a farmhouse style design, with some classic touches that complete the look and feel my clients are going for! From the James Hardie lap siding with a 4” reveal, the galvalume standing seam metal roof, the stem wall foundation, the flat profile craftsman trim on the interior of the home, and especially the exposed rafters and tongue and groove decking, this is a great example of a 2025 farmhouse with historically-inspired touches.

We started this home back in August and are very excited to see how this finishes up come spring time!

Completing this Farmhouse-style custom home build in River Rise Subdivision in the High Springs area of South Columbia County, Fl.

This home features many of the items you typically see in farmhouse custom home builds including hardie board and batten siding, a galvalume finish metal roof, a grouted stone fireplace, built-ins with floating shelves, stained faux collar ties in the great room, two tone cabinets in the kitchen, and quartz countertops.

One of the most interesting features on this home is the powder bath which features a panoramic picture that the owner took in Waccasassa that makes the bathroom look immersed in the swamp! The owner also supplied a weathered tin wainscoting that I think gives the bathroom an Old-Florida style feel.
