Responsibilities

• The primary purpose of this position is to assist crew with daily tasks including operating line equipment used in construction, maintenance and removal of overhead and under- ground fiber optic lines, driving and/or operating diesel or gasoline powered equipment to/from/on jobsite (Mini Excavator, Directional Bore, Digger Derrick, Pole/Bucket Truck), and using hand tools such as shovel, rake, or snap diggers to complete job

• Locates other buried wiring/cabling Install underground telecommunications cabling

• Flagging (directing safe coordination of vehicles and equipment within general public areas where worksites are active)

• Property or worksite restoration

• Performs general construction work (to include physical labor i.e. using hand tools, lifting materials on average up to 50 lbs, etc.) under direction of Foreman or Supervisor

• Performs other duties as necessary

• Ensures safety practices are observed by all crewmembers during their work

Qualifications

• Construction safety practices – JSA’s, tail gate meetings, hazard analysis

• Current and valid driver’s license with good record to operate company provided vehicle

• Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly

• Dependable and trustworthy

• Ability to look beyond the standard solutions

• Availability to work and stay out of town

• Willing to train the right applicants

Telecom Lineman

Edgar Trent Construction is currently looking for a Telecom Lineman to work on a crew primarily tasked with building fiber.

The primary purpose of this position is to operate all line equipment used in construction, maintenance and removal of overhead and under- ground fiber optic lines.
Monitors Quality Assurance and ensures installations meet customer specification and industry standards
Ensures safety practices are observed by all crew members during their work

QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE

Preferred 2-5 years’ telecom-specific aerial experience.
Experience working with and installing ADSS fiber optic cable. Lashing experience a plus.
Construction safety practices – JSA’s, tail gate meetings, hazard analysis
Class A CDL strongly preferred.
Current and valid driver’s license with good record to operate company provided vehicle.
Ability to climb wood poles and provide own climbing gear and tools
Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
Dependable and trustworthy.
Ability to look beyond the standard solutions.
Availability to work and stay out of town
