If anyone tells you your panel needs changing because of a recall, don't fall for it right away. Do some research on the panel you have. Get the model Number on the cover. Check their website. Have them show you proof. Get a qualified electrician to inspect your panel. Nonetheless, there are certain brands that are problematic and should be changed. Even the best panels, such as Square D QO, have recalls. Do some research. Get second opinions. There are plenty of so-called electricians that will scare you into a sale.

I sure do wish Big Box helpers would STAY IN THEIR LANE and stop giving customers electrical advice.

This photo is not as interesting as some of my other posts. However, if you look closer at the big outlet you will see an electric car symbol on the outlet. This means it is a heavy duty outlet that is designed to carry the continuous load of an electric vehicle charger. They are more expensive than regular outlet of the same type. But, there is a difference. I don't skimp when I install electrical. I never install used equipment. My customers trust me to install their projects properly. I get offers for used or older devices all the time. I graciously turn them down. The quality of material is only as good as the person installing it.

This guy did put the cable clamp on. I'm impressed. I decided to open it anyway and I'm glad I did. This is NOT how to connect an electric appliance.

Homeowner was having landscaping done in his yard. The contractor was clearing up old irrigation lines to install new lines before sod goes in. When the apprentice went to cut one of the lines he was met with an immediate arc and was shocked and was knocked on his a$$. Fortunately, he was fine. But he was shaken up for quite some time. A previous homeowner used irrigation lines to feed 240 volts to his garage and only buried it a few inches. Creating a hazard that could have killed someone. How many times have I heard people say "I can do it. We don't need a professional". THIS is why! Be careful who you hire. Check credentials. Get references. Make sure there are permits. If the contractor asks you to get the permit. RED FLAG! The person who gets the permit is responsible for the job should something go wrong!

Yet again, another improperly connected brand new dryer. I didn't post the close-up because I wanted to get a picture of the instructions that is right in front of their faces when they are making the connections. Geesh!
