I Robert Renteria have been in the industry since 1990. Worked initially for one of the largest drain service companies in the Continental U.S. When the technicians back then wanted to upgrade their drain equipment Gorlitz was the brand.

How much should a plumber charge for unblocking a drain?

My longer answer to this question on another blog.

This question is relative to demographics on the plumber side of the sale and competence on the consumer side.

Drain cleaning as a service in the market has been reduced to the most common denominater because it can be successfully done by non-plumbers DIY -ers. We have the principal of the correct tool for the job at hand. Then there's the adage of ‘the monkey behind the wrench.’

On the Internet it is unreasonable to throw out pricing as a metric for what is reasonable drain cleaning pricing because of varying demographics. I would say the medium pricing with some knowledge of reputation in the market is a good rule of thumb in selecting a plumbing professional.

If utilizing an alternative such as a handyman or relative or you the weekend warrior to save cost wise that may be reasonable.

Consider this nonetheless, you still may be risking more than you bargained for. If the less expensive measure has not sufficed you have already incurred much more had you not called the professional to begin with. Pay now… or pay later, which always costs more. Drain problems don't just go away.

The professional can service a drain and resolve an immediate problem successfully. What the inferior types cannot afford you, are the means to eradicate a more involved problem if the drain demands it. Drain cleaning although a seemingly simple procedure involves a level of expertise, in diagnoses as well as the physical process of cleaning the drain.

Basic plumbing is the foundation for newer technologies. We are into the fundamentals of plumbing service and repair. We support newer technologies like sewer liners, pipe boring. However, in many cases you can't get around from having to do what works and endures as well as cost effective.

Father, if we the U.S. citizens are to be what you originally called us to be a nation, by the people and for the people, lead us to where our true striving is. This man was protected on high. I see many heralding his cry, 'Make America Great Again!' It does not sound like the voice of our great Shepherd. "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me" (Jn 10:27). I hear Your call when I read and ponder Jesus' words, 'seek first the kingdom of God and His Righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.' (Mt 6:33) Do we have any semblance of Your kingdom in the U.S.A.? Father I pray for your revealing to the Christians of this country, 'do we strive for this or set our mind on things above where true freedom is with Christ in Heaven?' Only you know Lord, can these bones live?

Happy 4th of July! “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery” The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Ga 5:1)

247 years ago, our American Founding Fathers seen fit to establish these United States of America and deliver it from the tyranny of King George and British rule. We must keep in mind this was a political conquest and can only give us a taste of the freedom which Paul commended to the Galatians. The quote above, we can say the freedom Paul expressed is a religious freedom to worship God in spirit and in truth. I would add the liberty in Christ Paul shared is a freedom from any conceivable thing that would take us from God our Creator. Furthermore, through His Son we can live by the empowerment of His Spirit, today and the age to come. It is quite clear Paul speaks of something in the here in now, as well as other-worldly. If you are a Christian celebrating American freedom, what a great occasion to recall our greater freedom in Christ. Amen and blessings to you!

If you do not believe in Jesus as the King who has fulfilled all of God's expectations on your behalf, what better day than today to be reconciled to God. For today is the celebration of American freedom, even better today is the day of salvation! Be reconciled to God and live eternally in freedom, regardless of the context. As a human being God created you that you would be His child and can create you afresh for good works in which you may find this is your true purpose!
