At A. Francis we specialize in and making the process as easy as possible, since you most likely will be occupying the space while we remodel it.

🏡 Is your kitchen looking a little bland and out of times? A common remodel we work on is taking your outdated kitchen and upgrading the space in style and intuitive cooking design.

Is your bathroom tiling stuck in the 1980s and limited with space? By giving the interior a modern boost, adding bay windows, expanding into unused closets and opening up with skylights, we turn outdated bathrooms into sleek sanctuaries. 🛀

A remodel can simply mean replacing old, outdated windows and trim with new ones. New windows can drastically cut your utility bills and increase the comfort and beauty of your home. Or perhaps its time to knock down a wall, rip out some carpeting and transform your bedroom into the master you deserve!

There is something so beautiful about the bare bones of a house coming together. The way the light cuts through these symmetrical lines is one of our favorite parts of the home building process. What rooms do you think these will be?

We love designing the space you spend a lot personal time in. From starting the day with the sunrise pouring through the windows, to relaxing in a hot bath or shower at the end of a long week, there is no shame in the bathroom game. 🚿🛁🚰🚽

Here at A.Francis, we specialize in 'Green Building'! Sustainably building your home not only benefits costs, your health, and the environment, but also the value of your home!

What is Green Building? Its the practice of using materials, processes, and systems to create an energy-efficient home.

Some of the benefits include:
1. Financial savings: Green building construction practices and products make homes more energy efficient through proper, adequate insulation, and air sealing. Efficient windows, appliances, lighting, and other household equipment also help add to the savings and keep your monthly electricity bills low- up to 65% lower! Water bills are reduced through low-flow equipment and thoughtful land use. In addition to adding solar panels, proper orientation of your home can take advantage of the sun's radiant energy to provide free natural heat in the cooler months, while avoiding too much sun in the warmer ones, to save on energy costs.

2. Healthier Living: Green building encourages the use of products and materials that reduce or eliminate these sources of indoor pollution. Chemicals emitted from traditional building materials can be a potential source of health problems if they are not properly addressed. For example, cabinets, countertops, and furniture are often made from pressed wood products such as particleboard or medium-density fiberboard (MDF), which are typically manufactured with formaldehyde-based adhesives. This formaldehyde can off-gas into your home for years. Formaldehyde is a known human carcinogen according to the World Health Organization; it can also cause watery eyes, headaches, fatigue, and nausea. Paint and floor finishes can also contain formaldehyde and other chemicals that are not healthy to breathe, especially for small children. Better choices include a wide range of products such as low-VOC paint, solvent-free adhesives, and water-based wood finishes that not only eliminate many of the suspected and known carcinogens but often perform better than traditional products. Finally, ventilation is key to keeping and maintaining indoor air quality for healthier living. Adequate ventilation is especially important in green building as it can reduce the potential for mold growth and buildup of allergens and other particulates.

3. Less Maintenance and Higher Durability: Current building codes establish minimum construction standards that protect your safety. Green building supplements building codes by using premium materials that are more durable and construction practices that often exceed building code requirements. Together, these qualities enhance your home's performance and reduce maintenance and replacement costs, thereby raising its overall value. Examples of such long-lasting materials and their applications include decking made from recycled plastic and wood fibers, durable tile or linoleum for floors, 50-year roofing materials, and fiber-cement siding.

4. Knowing You’re Being Good to the Environment: Green building products and practices offer the assurance that you are following environmentally friendly guidelines that help preserve our natural resources. A socially responsible step worthy of recognition, building green makes a strong statement about your dedication to the community and the environment. Impacting more than your home itself, green building promotes the use of local products and materials that help stimulate local businesses and a diverse economy. This keeps your dollars working in your neighborhood and reduces energy consumption because there are fewer transportation costs. Materials like engineered wood products are encouraged because they efficiently make use of waste wood pieces, reducing the environmental impacts of the wood industry. Recycled-content products productively use materials that would otherwise need to be hauled to landfills, and also reduce costs and impacts of producing products from unsustainable materials.

A kitchen is a central part of a home. It’s where the day begins and the day ends. From cooking for your loved ones, grabbing something refreshing to drink, or scooping some late night ice cream, having a kitchen that matches your personality, style, and life makes your home, yours.

We love this blue accent on the island the homeowner chose to make the kitchen pop!

What is the difference between a construction company and a 'Design and Build' Contracting Company?

Well, there are 3 Phases:
1. Pre-Construction: we work with you to develop an operational agreement that provides a clear understanding of all the activities involved in the project. Including requirements and all of your dream designs and desires. We compile the budgets and handle all the bidding with subcontractors and suppliers. We secure any construction documents and permits. Then our in house design architect drafts your blueprints, and we get started!

2. Construction: we project manage all subcontractors, track the insurance and payments, provide on-site management, and monitor the schedule to keep all project activities on target. This provides for centralized accountability, yet includes open communication between all parties. Weekly construction coordination meetings with subcontractors allow for resolution of issues as they arise.

3. Completion: Our company carries on cost management efforts during the entire project. As construction approaches project closeout, we review all inspection reports and verify that the subcontractors have completed their duties before sign-off. We compile all the closing documentation to supply you with all the necessary warranties, manuals, and as-built plans. And then- we hand you the keys!
