We have invaded South Florida. Some of this straw delivered will be spread in the neighborhood surrounding Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, as well as different parts of Ft. Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Miami.

The former Sheriff J. Tyson Stephens will be memorialized in a ceremony dedicating a segment of U.S. Highway 80 East from the eastern city limits of Swainsboro to the western city limits of Twin City on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 10:00 AM on the square in downtown Swainsboro. (Intersection of U.S. Highway 80 and U.S. Highway 1) Recognizing Sheriff Stephens will be the honorable Representative Larry J. (Butch) Parrish, sponsor of House Resolution 342, and the honorable Senator Max Burns.

J. Tyson Stephens served with honor and distinction as the sheriff of Emanuel County from January 1, 1985, to December 31, 2020. A lifelong resident of Emanuel County, Sheriff Stephens had previously served as a county commissioner prior to becoming Sheriff in 1985.

Following the dedication and sign unveiling ceremony, signs identifying the stretch of road will be erected at each end of the segment of highway stating, “Sheriff J. Tyson Stephens Memorial Highway.” The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
